That F-16 story really does sound like a comedy movie. I can just picture an incompetent saboteur with a bad accent slipping off a plane, landing on the cannon (crushing his balls in the process), and then looking at the camera for a moment before the cannon goes off saying "Uh-Oh". Bonus points if the movie included the body of the saboteur flying into the other plane (while yelling "Ooooh shit!" before the explosion).
In my opinion it implies it was part of him being charged. But fair enough.
The standards for being a substitute teacher are generally much lower than the standards for being a teacher. ...Which is unfortunate, because the requirements to become a teacher are much higher than their base pay would normally allow for.

The number one solution to correcting all the ills of the American society is based in education. America does not invest enough in education, and the low pay for teachers is one of the largest problems. Teachers should be well paid, with salaries high enough to attract quality people to the profession.
Teachers in Ontario are fairly well compensated. Over the course of their career teachers can easily earn over $80,000. The teacher's pension is among the best in the business, on top of that.
There are many who will complain about teachers earning that kind of money, but the teachers that ferry my children through 13 years of primary and secondary education will have more impact on my children's success as adults than anything else. I have a vested interest in having the best quality professionals in that roll...
I'm astounded when I see news reports from the U.S. and people are offended and incensed about teachers $40,000 or $50,000. As if they have no business making that sort of money. So short sighted. The country is raising a society of dumb-asses.
Did anyone see the movie Idiocracy? As I watch the development of the United States is going to make this movie some sort of prophecy.
I mean, hypothetically speaking if taxpayers were to elect criminal psychopaths to represent them, one could in principle argue that they were partly to blame for the outcome.
Notre Dame Cathedral was built so boys would have pretty things to look at while their religious leaders fucked their assholes. Those beautiful ceilings were the set dressing for the nightmares of innocents. I'm glad Jews and Muslims finally teamed up to burn that rape hut down.
Gee... Sailer didn't feel any need to add any commentary other than the headline? That is strange. I wonder why?
Oh. Because the comments do it for him. He can remain at a healthy distance and let his commenters fill in the snark and modern racism.
As for whether or not the 1930's songs should prevent Kate Smith's later recordings from being used... I'm not a good judge. I fucking hate the song "God Bless America" anyway so I'm happy to see it go. I much prefer the national anthem or any number of other patriotic songs.
On a side note, the song "That's why darkies were born" song is pretty brazen, even for the 1930s. Hell, Edison records went out of business just a few years before because they still focused on minstrel and vaudeville recordings and would not record jazz, blues, or other music seen as having a then-contemporary black origin.

Florida man accused of groping airline passenger tells authorities 'president says it's OK'
I've got money that says we see a headline in the next week that says 'Florida Man sent mail bombs'.
But then, I shouldn't listen to my money. It can't be trusted.
Not the headline, but the first line of the article:
Federal authorities have arrested a man in Florida in connection with the series of suspected explosive packages mailed to prominent Democrats this week.

...to be fair, his refusal to recite the pledge was not why he was charged. ;-)
Great exchange of ideas with that substitute though, no?
Also, to be fair.... the headline doesn't imply that he was... It says he was charged "after" refusing... ;-)
Not that I care... I'm just arguing to argue... and you started it...
You would think that the whole, "go back where you came from" argument wouldn't still be a thing amongst educated, intelligent people.

The United States pays a huge amount of money for education. If it isn't going to the teachers, that isn't the fault of the tax payers.
